Research

My research interest is in software design, especially the sort of design that happens at the whiteboard. More specifically, I am interested in the role that knowledge plays in this process and how it can be harnessed to improve both the design experience, and the resulting product.

I am currently developing DesignMinders, a note card based knowledge management system that augments electronic whiteboards to allow developers to capture, organize, and reuse knowledge during informal design sessions. The ultimate goal is to make knowledge that is normally lost after a design session more readily available during future sessions for reference, or inspiration.

I also work at Mirth Corporation as a lead and founding engineer for Mirth Connect, an open source healthcare integration engine.
