I'm currently working on my PhD at the University of California, Irvine, under the advisement of Professor André van der Hoek. I am scheduled to finish my dissertation in late 2009. My work aims to understand the activity of designing software. In particular, I'm studying software developers working together in design meetings, analyzing the drawings, actions and communication patterns that result. This research is grounded in a thorough understanding of design in general, as it exists across a variety of fields and disciplines. In addition, I have a strong interest in software design education; I've previously created a card game for teaching software engineering, and co-developed a new, two-part course for teaching software design. My other interests include board game design, digital art, circuit bending and creating simple electronic instruments. |
