On-the-Web (Requires Java Plugin 1.4) Off-the-Web (No Java Plugin Required) |
Update Software Off-the-Web If you cannot or do not choose to install Java Plugin 1.4 into your browser, you can still get all the functionality of our online deployment system in a standalone application. The standalone deployment system requires a Java 2, version 1.4 virtual machine to be installed on the target machine. If you do not have this installed or available, you can download it for free in the Java 2, version 1.4 SDK. To obtain that SDK, go here. Once you have a Java 2, version 1.4 virtual machine installed, follow the following step-by-step instructions. (Note: If you cannot or choose not to install a Java Virtual Machine at all, but would still like to download the software—to view its documentation or source code, for instance—then you can download the software at the download-only page). Step 1: Download deployment system JAR file: Click here to download Step 2: Run the deployment system: The procedure for doing this will differ from system to system.
On most GUI systems, double-clicking on the icon of the downloaded
If successful, a screen similar to the following should appear:
Step 3: Set up locations: Depending on if you've used the system before, one or more URLs may appear in the URL table. The important one for obtaining ISR software is:
If this already appears in your URL table, skip to step 4 now. If not, click the "Add URL" button and a window similar to this will appear:
In the top text field ("URL"), type or paste the following:
Leave the username and password fields blank. Click OK. The URL should appear in your URL table. Step 4: Install and Manage Software: Now, your URLs panel should look like this:
Click on "Install Software" to the left to install software. If everything is working correctly, you should see a screen with ISR products displayed, similar to this:
Step 5: Maintain Software: Once you have installed software using this deployment system, you can run the deployment system again as you did in Step 2, above, to install, update, manage, or remove the software. If, later, you obtain the Java 2, version 1.4 plugin for your browser, you can use the deployment system on-the-web as well.
