The Institute for Software Research has a full-time Project Scientist position available in the area of software engineering with a focus on information retrieval and data mining. The scholar is expected to be involved in or responsible for the following:
a. Carrying out a comprehensive research in mining software-related repositories with a focus on applying resulting insights to the development of advanced software engineering tools.
b. Presenting research results through conference and journal publications, and technical reports.
c. Helping the development of a book of mining software artifacts.
d. Supervising students working on the project.
This position requires a Ph.D. degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related academic discipline. Prior research or work experience in the following areas is desirable: empirical methods in Software Engineering, data mining, and statistics. A solid record of research publications in related research areas is also required. The successful applicant should have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and should also be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently.
The initial appointment will be for the academic year with extensions for further years dependent in part on the availability of extra-mural funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
