The Institute for Software Research has a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position available in the areas of human-computer interaction and computer-supported cooperative work. The scholar is expected to be involved in or responsible for the following:
a. Carrying out comprehensive research in human-computer interaction or informatics with a focus on the use of virtual worlds in different application domains.
b. Presenting research results through conference and journal publications, and technical reports.
c. Supervising any students working on the project.
This position requires a Ph.D. degree in human-computer interaction or a closely related academic discipline. Prior research or work experience in the following areas is desirable: design, HCI, CSCW, ethnographic fieldwork and/or human laboratory studies. A solid record of research publications in HCI or related areas is also required. The successful applicant should have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and should also be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently.
The duration of the appointment is dependent in part on the availability of extra-mural funding. The minimum annual starting salary for this position will be $35,500.
